The Invention of Hawthorne Everhart was a project exploring the defining environmental, psychological, and social experiences that shape a person's identity from birth into adulthood and the physical paper trail each person creates along the way. An exhibit and scrapbook-styled book filled with doctored ephemera and objects reveal the significant moments that influenced the character's selfhood. I illustrated/built/designed all visuals as authentically as possible to reflect the varying aesthetics of documents from different sources and time periods of the last twenty years. A humorous and introspective narrative runs throughout the 100-page book, reinforced by additional details woven through the mixed media imagery to provide a convincing and honest portrait of fictional person.
